Menlha provides training in mindfulness, healing meditation, MBCT and MBSR. Menlha's faculty are experienced meditators in mindfulness and Buddhist meditation healing practices. Menlha offers training and support services to the following groups: What is mindfulness? Mindfulness meditation has been practiced for over 2,500 years in the
Buddhist and other Eastern traditions. Mindfulness practice cultivates
wisdom, awareness, insight and compassion. A mindfulness practioner trains
the mind to let go of attachment, desire and aversion to thoughts, emotions,
sensations, form and consciousness as they arise in response to internal
or external events. The meditator practices non-attachment, watching the
arising and passing away of each moment, until there is no internal and
no external: no self or other than self. Enlightenment. What is MBCT? Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), developed in 1991, combines
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
for the treatment of depression and prevention of a recurrence. MBCT is
seen as a promising, cost-effective means to help patients overcome depression
and avert future episodes of depression. The effectiveness and benefits
of MBCT are also being studied in other patient groups, such as a rehabilitation
program for patients with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). What is MBSR? Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) uses mindfulness meditation to help people with a number of physical and mental illnesses, such as:
The biological consequences of MBSR are improved emotional health and
physical health, since a reduction in stress levels results in both medical
and psychological improvements to one's well being. |
